The Challenge
Printing catalogs is a very expensive business, as well as being out of date as soon as they are printed. Macmillan realised there was an opportunity to allow their mobile sales team access to the latest data electronically by using an Ipad.
Macmillan have the back-end to generate ONIX feeds with the data which can synchronise the app seamlessly. This meant there was very little work to be done to integrate this project which in the end assisted a quick turnaround time.
Execution
The Ipad App automatically takes and consumes the ONIX feeds Macmillan generate and pulls them to a central server which in turn the IPad apps connect to to get the latest information.
Tangent One Australia also supply Macmillan with a CMS that enables them to manage, promote and edit books from the feed to ensure the product catalog is 100% current.
